Smart Phone App

You will need to purchase our LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi Lighting Controller and download the app "Smart Life" to your phone.

On your phone, go to the the following page on the Spa Electrics website: https://www.spaelectrics.com/lityard2-wifi-guides-landing
Then click the link for Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The phone app "Smart Life" is compatible with:
Android: 6.0 or later
iOS: 13.0 or later

Within the phone app "Smart Life":
Choose to Login to Smart Life/ Create account (Recommended) or use as Guest.
You need to pair the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device with your Smart Life app.

NOTE: if you already have a Smart Life account and have previously paired the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device, you may not need to re-pair once you have logged in.
i.e. You are reinstalling Smart Life or have previously paired the device on another phone. -
Within the phone app "Smart Life":
In order to save settings and allow multiple users to control the device, you will need to create an account.
You can login as a guest (i.e. not create an account), however access to home control settings will be limited.

Please enable Bluetooth on your phone
Please press and hold the Pairing Button (Button at base of Wi-Fi Hub) for at least 5 seconds (it will change colour) then release and wait for several seconds (up to 10 sec) for the light to flash green.
Note: With Bluetooth disabled you will need to pair the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi manually. Refer to instruction manual or relevant FAQ.

If you already have a Smart Life account and have previously paired the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device, you may not need to re-pair once you have logged in.
Pairing/ On-Boarding

From the home page of the Smart Life app, press “+” at top right of the screen, then select 'Add Device' to bring up the “Add Device” page.
Ensure the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device is powered up.
Press the Button at the base of the unit for at least 5 seconds.
The LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device should be automatically discovered and available for selection.
Select the icon of the new device and follow the on-screen instructions.

Enable Bluetooth
Enable Location services
Note: Enabling these phone services will greatly improve the ease of establishing a Wi-Fi connection to the device.

Yes, in order to pair the device ensure your phone is connected and operating on the Wi-Fi network you wish the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi unit to use.
The LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi obtains the same Wi-Fi settings as used by the phone at the time of pairing.
After pairing, your phone can roam to a different network without affecting operation of the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi. The LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi will remain on the network to which it was paired.

Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
Ensure the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi is powered on (plugged into a mains power outlet) and the Status Light is flashing yellow/green (ready to pair). If the status light is not flashing, press the button at the base of the unit (pairing button) for at least 5 seconds. The Status Light will flash red, then wait several seconds for it to flash Green.
If still not available on the “Add Devices” page after ~30 seconds, then proceed to “Add Manually”. Refer to instruction manual or relevant FAQ.

The LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi operates on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.
Where your network allows your phone to select to connect to operate on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands you must select the 2.4GHz band prior to pairing the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi.
If your network provides only one option for your phone to select, the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi will automatically select the correct band.
Note: At the time of pairing, the phone MUST be operating on the Wi-Fi network you intend for the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi to use. After pairing is complete your phone can use other networks.

On your phone:
Enable Bluetooth (to allow the LiTYARD 2 Wi-Fi to be automatically discovered).
Enable Location permissions for the Smart Life app (to allow the Wi-Fi settings to be automatically copied from the phone).
Re-attempt to pair as follows:
Please press and hold the button at the base of the unit (Pairing Button) for at least 5 seconds (it will change colour) then release and wait for several seconds (up to 10sec) for the Status Light to flash Green.
From the home page of the Smart Life app, press “+” at top right of the screen, then select 'Add Device' to bring up the “Add Device” page.
The phone should discover the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi and show it as an icon. Select the icon and follow the on screen instructions.
Note: On failure to discover the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi, proceed to "Add Manually". Refer to the instruction manual or relevant FAQ.

You can pair the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi without Bluetooth enabled, but you will still need Wi-Fi enabled, and will have to pair manually.
On the ‘All devices’ page, tap ‘Add Device’ then close/discard the window that advises to turn on Bluetooth.
Under the ‘Add Manually’ section, select ‘Socket (Wi-Fi)’ option, which will bring up page asking to enter a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Type in your WiFi network SSID and Password, then tap ‘next’.
Note: Your phone must be connected and operating on the same Wi-Fi network that you manually enter for the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device to use. (Having location services enabled for the Smart Life app would auto fill this section by copying from the phone settings).
On the page requesting to ‘Reset the device’, tap ‘Next’ and ‘Next’ on subsequent pages until a window pops up to ‘Select the status of the indicator light or hear the beep:’
Tap on the blink option that best represents what the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi unit is displaying.
The Device will begin to connect indicated by a search icon with timer underneath. If connection fails (i.e. the timer runs out and has not paired to the device), move the unit closer to the router and try again starting from the second dot point.

Locate the Smart Life Home Screen by pressing the back button repeatedly until “Tap again to exit Smart Life” popup appears.
Select the “All Devices” button.
Locate the icon representing the ‘LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi’ device.
Press and hold the icon ‘LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi’.
Select ‘Remove Device’, and select ‘Confirm’.
Or, locate the physical button underneath the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi Hub unit (pairing button), press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds, (The Status Light will flash red) then release.

After pairing, the phone’s Wi-Fi settings can be changed without affecting LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi operation as long as your phone has an internet connection.
In the absence of a Wi-Fi network, limited LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi functionality can be supported if the phone’s Bluetooth remains enabled and in range.

No, after pairing, Bluetooth is not required. (If enabled however it can holdover manual operation if Wi-Fi is not available).

Internet connection is required to On-Board (pair) a new LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi and to create and modify schedules.
If internet access is not available, the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi can be operated manually if Wi-Fi connection is still available and existing schedules will continue to operate, however schedules cannot be created or modified.

Disable mobile data to force the phone to transfer data over the Wi-Fi network.
And/or move the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi close to the Router.
Verify that the phone is accessing internet via Wi-Fi (and not mobile data) by successfully browsing an unfamiliar website.
Re-attempt the pairing/on-boarding process as per user instructions.
Note: You may re-enable mobile data after completing the above steps.
Schedules

Yes, the device will auto save any schedule once it has been set and won’t require constant connection.

No, any schedule that was set will not run after the unit has been unpaired.
All previously configured schedules will be deleted by unpairing the unit.

Yes, the schedule will run as intended so long as the unit is powered on again before the schedule start time.

No, the unit will not resume a schedule if it was turned off during one.
However, schedules will work correctly on next occurrence.

Yes, changing the colour or show manually will change the colour but will not affect an active schedule turn off time.
Sharing Access

You can share the device with others in various ways:
1. You can have multiple phones logged in under the same Smart Life account and control the device through each phone, or;
2. You can create a ‘Home’ within the Smart Life app account to which the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi is paired/connected, and invite other user accounts to your Home thereby giving them access to control the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi as follows:
a. Tap on “Me” at the bottom right corner, then select “Home Management” and tap on the first option, which is your “Home Name”.
Important: You must change the name of your home from its initial default name for home sharing to work.b. Under “Home Member”, tap on “Add Member”. The Smart Life app will prompt you to “Share”.
c. Select the desired communication mode (email, or Bluetooth etc.) and confirm to send the invitation to the other user.
d. The other user on receiving the invitation uses the web link (eg. inside the email) to both invite them to install Smart Life if not already installed on their phone, and to include and activate the shared Home within their Smart Life account.
e. The shared user then has access to control devices within the shared Home including the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device.
3. You can share the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device directly with another Smart Life account holder.
a. Open the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device app, and select the ellipses (x3 dots) at the top right corner.
b. Select “Share Device”, and add the Smart Life account of the intended user.
c. Select the desired communication mode (email, or Bluetooth etc) and confirm to send the invitation to the other user.
d. The shared user then has access to the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi from the devices list of their own phone’s Smart Life account.

You can invite other account users to control the device by sharing as follows:
Tap on “Me” at the bottom right corner, then select “Home Management” and tap on the first option, which is your “Home Name”.
Under “Home Member”, tap on “Add Member”. The Smart Life app will prompt you to “Share”.
Select the desired option to share the device to the other user.

Tap on “Me” at the bottom right corner, then select “Home Management” and tap on the first option, which is your home. (“My Home ...” if not yet renamed).
Under “Home Member”, select the User for which access is to be change, then tap on “Family Role”, then select “Administrator”.
Note: By default, a new user is shared as a “Common Member” with restricted access to home configuration. A user shared as “Administrator” has unrestricted access to home configuration including the addition and removal of devices.

Tap on “Me” at the bottom right corner then select “Home Management” and tap on the first option, which is your home “My Home ...”
Under “Home Member”, tap on the User which you wish to remove and then tap on “Remove Member”.
Zones

Yes, you can link zones.
Tap on Configuration icon (Gear image), then tap on the ‘link zones’ slider to enable. Both zones are then controlled as Zone 1.
Optionally: also enable ‘Linkage control available on Main page’ to allow linking to be changed from the home page.

Go into Configuration icon (Gear image) and tap the zone name to be changed. Edit the name as desired, then tap “Done” to save changes.

You will not be able to control lights under ZONE 1 if your transformer is plugged into ZONE 2 and vice versa. You can, however, link ZONE 2 to ZONE 1 and control both zones together.
Device Functions

Flashing green – Ready and attempting to connect/ pair
Double flashing green – Communicating to WIFI router
Triple flashing green – Communicating with the Cloud
Solid green – Device connected and operational (on-boarding successful)
Flashing red – Disconnecting, or restarting
Flashing red for longer than 30 seconds – WiFi module inside unit is not plugged in/faulty

Locate the Smart Life Home Screen by pressing the back button repeatedly until ‘Tap again to exit Smart Life’ popup appears.
Select the “All Devices” button.
Locate the icon representing the ‘LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi’ device.
Press and hold the icon ‘LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi’.
Select ‘Remove Device’, and select ‘Confirm’.

The unit can operate up to and in excess of 50m in clear line of sight. This distance decreases with walls and obstacles in between.

From the Smart Life home page, locate the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device icon.
Select the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device icon to enter the “Spa Electrics – lighting” main page.
Tap on the ellipses (x3 dots) at the top right of the screen to enter the device info page.
At the top left of the page locate the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi unit icon and name ‘LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi’. Tap on the pencil icon to its right-hand side.
A larger image of the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi unit appears, tap on the name text ‘LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi’ to edit the name of the device.
After changing the name press ‘Save’.

The LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi Hub has an ingress rating of IP33. This provides basic water spray resistance and is therefore recommended to be kept/installed in a dry sheltered environment.
Light Behaviour

The light(s) will blink (turn off and on) when first turned on, and again when colours or settings are changed. This is normal behaviour and occurs when settings are being communicated with the light(s).

Please ensure you are using Spa Electrics Multi-Plus lights
Please ensure the lights have been setup to operate in LiT YARD 2 mode.
To setup lights into LiT YARD 2 mode:
In the Smart Life app, locate the Smart Life Home Screen by pressing the back button repeatedly until ‘Tap again to exit Smart Life’ popup appears.
Locate and select the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device icon.
On the main page, select the Configuration icon (Gear image) to enter the Configuration page.
Select the Support icon (Person image) on bottom right to open the ‘Support’ page.
Press and hold the Service icon (tool/spanner image) to enter the ‘Service” page.
Double tap the ‘Set …. Mode’ button, a popup appears entitled ‘All lights will be set to LiT YARD 2 Mode’, then press ‘Confirm’.
After activating, the controller will program lights of all zones into LiT YARD 2 mode which will take approximately 2 minutes.
Note: Only supported with Spa Electrics Multi-Plus lights.

Please ensure light(s) have been configured to operate in LiT YARD 2 mode.
In the Smart Life app, locate and select the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi device icon
Or, if already in the LiT YARD 2 Wi-Fi control pages, return to the main lighting control page by pressing the ‘home’ symbol.
On the main page, press the region represented by Zone1 or Zone2. The colour select page for that zone will become active and the lights will turn ON.
Select a colour button and observe the lights change to the desired colour.

Please ensure:
Your Lights are connected to the LiT YARD 2 Controller (100 Watt Transformer)
That you are controlling the correct zone.
